Manuel Maques, of Hyde Road, Manchester, has been charged with section 18 assault and assault of an emergency worker. The 27-year-old has been remanded in custody.

He will appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court today (Wednesday 21 April). Manchester's courts are some of the busiest in the country with a vast array of cases heard every week.
