Man, 62, dead in house after killer dog set upon him in savage attack

killer dog at an address in Wrexham. North Wales Police confirmed that the man died from cardiac arrest after he suffered wounds from the dog at the property on Holt Road, which has been closed all day.

The house was home to multiple dogs however the animal responsible has now been destroyed. The other dogs have been seized and taken to a kennel nearby while enquiries into the tragic death continue, police have confirmed.

As of yet the identity of the man has not been revealed however his next of kin have been informed. A police spokesman said: "At 11.44am today (23 May) we responded to a request to attend an address on Holt Road, Wrexham to assist an ambulance crew at the scene."Welsh Ambulance Service reported that a 62-year-old male was in cardiac arrest after being bitten by a dog at the property."Sadly, despite the best efforts of paramedics, the man was pronounced dead at the scene."The man’s next of kin have been informed and our enquiries into this incident remain ongoing."Family members have requested that their privacy is respected at this time."The dog was securely contained at the property and was euthanised by a vet at the scene."Other dogs kept at the property have been removed by trained dog handlers and will be temporarily kennelled whilst enquiries are ongoing."To stay up to date with all the latest news, make sure you sign up to one of our newsletters here.Reports from the scene suggest there is still a heavy police presence.

One eyewitness said there are ten police cars attending.Several police vehicles are on scene, including a police forensics team which are conducting an investigation of the priority.
