A 27-year-old man has been arrested after an alleged attempt to abduct a five-year-old boy in front of his mum. Police said the youngster was approached by a man in broad daylight on Thursday, January 7, in Northolt, London.

The man allegedly picked the child up and ran a short distance before being confronted by his mum, police said. The child was then released unharmed after the terrifying incident, which happened at 2.30pm.

The Met said today: "The 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted abduction of a child at an address in Surrey on Saturday, 23 January.
