Lorraine Kelly has praised her brave friend Deborah James for 'everything she does and everything she will continue to do' to raise awareness about bowel cancer.

Just yesterday, the BBC star gave an emotional health update confirming the sad news that she is now in hospice care and is surrounded by her family and friends.

The mum-of-two has been battling for five years, and has been on a mission to raise awareness and break the stigma surrounding bowel cancer.After announcing she's been moved to a hospice, a new fundraiser which set out to raise £250,000 for charity is already close to £1million in less than 24 hours.The 40-year-old has been fighting stage 4 bowel cancer since December 2016 and has documented her fight on Instagram - having inspired millions of fans.Deborah, who goes by the name Bowelbabe on her social media, set up a JustGiving page in a bid to raise funds for charity Cancer Research.She initially set out to raise £250,000 - but generous followers have donated much more and she's close to £1million.And today, pal Lorraine Kelly gave her a mention on the show, as she previously teamed up with Deborah for her show's No Butts campaign.She said: "I always thought she would bounce back, it really brings it home, Deborah if you're watching this this morning we are sending you all our love."Thank you to Deborah for everything she does and everything she continues to do."Lorraine also took to Twitter last night after Deborah announced the sad news.

She wrote: "Brave bright beautiful woman and her campaigning has saved lives. Honoured to know you lovely Deborah @bowelbabe - love you." She then urged everyone to donate to Deborah's fundraiser.
