Local elections take place across England on May 6, when voters will be choosing local councillors, mayors and police and crime commissioners, while new Parliaments will be elected in Wales and Scotland.
A by-election will also take place in Hartlepool to select a new MP. The increased number of votes taking place this week is down to the coronavirus pandemic, which delayed the vast majority of votes scheduled to take place last year.
This year's bumper crop of elections means there will be an unusually large number of results to keep an eye on once polling stations close at 10pm on Thursday.
