Lionel Messi’s FIFA Best awards vote suggest he is not over his Liverpool humiliation in the Champions League. The Barcelona captain came third in the honour for the Best Men’s Player as Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski won for the first time in his career.
Having scored 55 goals in 47 games last year to help his side win the Champions League, the Polish forward won the most votes from his peers.Other players’ votes, including second-placed Cristiano Ronaldo, emerged following the awards ceremony at FIFA’s headquarters.
But Messi’s choices have sparked some controversy.The 33-year-old gave his top vote to former team-mate Neymar, who helped his PSG side to the Champions League final.The Brazilian’s team-mate Kylian Mbappe and winner.
