Former Paraguay international Edgar Benitez has had his priceless collection of football shirts stolen – including ones worn by Lionel Messi and Paul Pogba.
Benitez, 32, discovered that over a thousand jerseys collected during a career in which he played 58 times for his country, went missing after the family home he was having renovated was broken into.
Police have recovered 65 of the stolen items after arresting two men in connection with the theft. But Benitez has been left heartbroken after being told that the most prized shirts in his collection are believed to have already been sold on.
That includes jerseys worn by Argentina ace Messi, Manchester United's French World Cup winner Pogba and Brazil legend Ronaldinho.
