Line Of Duty star Vicky McClure wanted to send a positive message by showing "the real" her on new series Trigger Point. The actress who plays an experience bomb disposal officer called Lana Washington explained how she ditched make-up to make a point as "she is real and human."Discussing her character with Radio Times, she said: “I do feel a slight sense of responsibility.

There is so much pressure on people, especially via social media."The 38-year-old wanted to make a positive impact on viewers watching the six-part series. She continued: "I would like to put some kind of message out there, showing people that you don’t really need make-up."I think it’s important to strip things back and be comfortable.

I mean, my body isn’t fully toned; people will see the real Vicky, as well as Lana. I’m not hiding anything.”Vicky also opted to wear a crop top "instead of an actual bra" during filming and admitted she wanted to give her characters a sense of relatability and realism. The trilling new drama is produced by Line Of Duty creator Jes Mercurio who hopes the series will encourage more women to train as bomb-disposal experts. He said: “It is absolutely a very male-dominated environment.

But we all know professions should be more gender balanced and there should be a much more level playing field for entry to these roles.“So it feels like a good statement to have a female lead.”Jes previously revealed how he feared the police would come calling at his home thinking he was a terrorist plotting an explosive attack while he was researching online for information about bombs for the new series.
