By Rebecca Rubin News Editor, Online “In the Heights,” a big-screen adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Broadway musical, will now hit theaters June 18, 2021.
The movie was originally expected to debut this summer on June 26, but was postponed as the coronavirus pandemic began to sweep the country, causing movie theaters to close and film production to shut down. “In the Heights” stars “Hamilton” alum Anthony Ramos and was directed by Jon M.
Chu, of “Crazy Rich Asians” fame. It centers on Usnavi, a bodega owner in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan. The cast also includes Corey Hawkins, Melissa Barrera Jimmy Smits, Daphne Rubin-Vega and Stephanie Beatriz.
