'Life away from home is always challenging' Scots students can return home on long-term basis but urged to remain in isolation

Government  has issued new guidance for students this evening urging them to remain in isolation where possible - however they can return home on a long-term basis.Richard Lochhead, the Minister for Further Education, Higher Education and Science, has addressed university principals and student accommodation chiefs with new guidance on measures.The guidance still encourages students to remain on campus if they are able to do so.

It comes after our sister title, the Sunday Mail, revealed that hundreds of Scots students were returning home, flouting Covid-19 guidelines.They were asked to quarantine in their accommodation following a number of outbreaks on campus.But it has emerged droves of students escaped halls of residence to return home.
