Leaders battling to salvage the promised rail line between Manchester and Leeds which was dropped by the Government might have found a solution for the north - plough in cash ourselves.
The Government’s Integrated Rail Plan was published last week to widespread fury after Whitehall axed the eastern leg of HS2 and replaced large parts of a promised new line from Manchester to Leeds via Bradford with ‘upgrades’ of the existing route instead.
