Griffiths has been charged with "culpable and reckless conduct" after an incident where he kicked a smoke bomb at fans in a Scots stadium.The former Celtic ace, now playing for Dundee, admitted kicking the pyrotechnic away during the Betfred Cup match as the Dark Blues took on St Johnstone at Dens Park on Wednesday night.
He issued an apology yesterday for the action towards the Saints supporters saying he had been simply trying to clear the blue firework from the pitch.
It has now emerged police have brought charges. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police Scotland can confirm that a 31-year-old man has been charged in relation to culpable and reckless conduct, following an incident at Dens Park, Dundee, on Wednesday, 22 September."A.
