Alex Salmond’s QC for comments he allegedly made on a train has failed to meet a target for resolving the probe. The Faculty of Advocates “aims” to deal with cases in nine months but the complaint involving Gordon Jackson has dragged on for longer.Lib Dem MSP Liam McArthur MSP said: “It would be better for everyone if this case could be resolved swiftly.” Jackson, at that point faculty dean, was the former first minister’s defence QC during his sexual offences trial last year.Salmond had been accused of sexually assaulting nine women when he led the country but was cleared of all charges.After the verdict, recorded footage emerged of Jackson on a train discussing aspects of the case, including apparently naming two female complainers.
