Lawrence Shankland ’s “ridiculous” wonder goal was fitting on the night the club paid tribute to legendary Dundee United boss Jim McLean.
Scotland marksman Shankland netted a 53-yard second half super strike to earn the Tangerines a point in a four-goal Tayside tussle against St Johnstone.
Mellon ’s men were forced to come from behind to grab a point at Tannadice after losing an early lead with Guy Melamed and Chris Kane netting for the visitors before the break after Louis Appere’s ninth minute opener.
And the Dundee United gaffer hailed the brilliant finish from Shankland who spotted Saints keeper Zander Clark off his line to send a shot into the net from just inside the opposition half.
