Gavin and Stacey could soon be returning to our TV screens, as sitcom star Larry Lamb vowed "something will happen" with the programme during a BBC Breakfast appearance.Chatting to hosts Dan Walker and Sally Nugent via video link, Larry was on the show to discuss the return of BBC Three to our television sets tonight, after being strictly online-only for years. It comes after a Christmas special cliffhanger left fans reeling, as Nessa proposed to Smithy just as he looked ready to tie the knot with his new girlfriend - before abruptly cutting to the credits.Sally kicked off the discussion by saying: "Larry, I know everybody watching will want me to ask about the Gavin and Stacey Christmas special..."Dan chimed in: "It’s against the law not to ask!", as Sally continued: "Exactly.

It ended on a little bit of a cliffhanger, didn’t it? Tell us what’s going to happen - what are we going to see, what can we expect?"Chuckling, Larry teased: "I’m probably one of the worst people in the world to ask.

It’s super hush hush, like trying to find out what happened in Number 10! I don’t know. Sooner of later, something will happen, I reckon.

That’s about it."Clearly chuffed with his response, Sally said: "Well that’s a good answer! There’s an answer. Sooner or later, something will happen I reckon."Dan then chipped in: "When you’ve got something that so many people talk about, Larry, it’s like - you’ve got to do something with it, because the expectation is huge!"Larry agreed: "Yeah that’s it - you wind everybody up."17 million people - probably who knows how many million!
