Labour is demanding a new law to ensure "exploited" care workers get the proper minimum wage. The party has thrown its weight behind a backbencher's bid to close loopholes in the system for the hardest-up.

Yet Paula Barker's Bill - which was already a long-shot to ever make it into law - has been thrown into further doubt after a debate on it today was cancelled.

Friday sittings of Parliament, which consider backbenchers' proposed laws, have been axed until further notice due to coronavirus.

The Liverpool Wavertree MP drew up her Private Member's Bill to help some of the 420,000 workers estimated not to get the full minimum wage.
