The top leagues in Spain, Germany and Italy are all edging closer to a return after being halted by the coronavirus pandemic.

While the leagues in France, Holland and Belgium all voted to end their seasons, there is a resolve elsewhere to ensure that the 2019/20 campaigns are played to a finish despite issues around social distancing and infection rates.

Spanish prime minister Pedro Sanchez said on Saturday that he hopes to see La Liga returning behind closed doors "soon", despite 276 people dying in Spain in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of deaths in the country to 25,100.
