King Charles teary-eyed in first public speech with emotional tribute to Queen

King Charles III seemed to fight back tears as he paid an emotional tribute to his "darling Mama" in his first speech as King.

Thank you."Thank you for your love and devotion to our family, and to the family of nations you have served so diligently all these years."He concluded: "May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest."The King opened his speech by praising the Queen as a mother, telling the nation: "My beloved mother was an inspiration, an example, to me and to all my family, and we owe her the most heartfelt debt any family could owe to their mother.

For her love, affection, guidance, understanding and example."He proceeded to acknowledge that his mother will be "mourned most deeply" before pledging that he'll continue her legacy of duty.The King added: "That promise of life-long service I renew to you all today."Later in his speech, he explained how his son, Prince William, has succeeded him as the Duke of Cornwall and will take on the duties he had.
