King Charles 'hopes to turn Balmoral into royal memorial to the Queen and open it to the public'

She would travel to the Aberdeenshire estate at the end of July and spend the rest of the summer there.It was at Balmoral where the Queen spent her final days, before she passed away on September 8 this year.The royal family are expected to continue with annual summer holidays at Balmoral, which is when the estate will be temporarily closed to the public.However, this year, Balmoral is set to be open to the public from October to December, with no fees or guided tours.A spokesman said: 'Visitors will be able to visit the grounds and gardens, where they can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this special place and pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth II.'Charles is reportedly planning to make the privately owned estate more accessible to the public as a way of honouring his late mother’s life, alongside giving the public a space to reflect on her reign.He is also hoping to create a permanent space with exhibitions at Balmoral to “celebrate the Queen’s legacy” - one of the key principles he has set out for his reign.To get more stories from Daily Star delivered straight to your inbox sign up to one of our free newsletters here.Al.
