Gas chiefs have lifted the lid on a near seven-figure project which they vow will provide reassurance to residents in Kincaidston.
Bosses from SGN have revealed the details of major works which will see gas supply changed from cast iron to plastic over 20 weeks in the Ayr estate rocked by a horrifying explosion.
The gas distribution company says the project is ‘unprecedented’ and plans which normally take months to put together have been finalised in several weeks.It is estimated that the gas overhaul will cost £850,000 as 5km cast iron pipes are replaced with safer plastic pipes.Ahead of the planned works starting on November 29 SGN took over Kincaidston Community Pavilion over three drop-in days for residents to quiz them on the works.Tea
