Kilwinning Football Academy's £45,000 cash boost for state-of-the art sports site plans

Kilwinning Community Football Academy’s ambitious plans for Almswall Park sports pavilion and football pitch have received a £45,000 funding boost.The cash, from North Ayrshire Council's community investment fund (CIF), will help the academy replace an existing, outdated 15-year-old artificial park with a state-of-the-art 4G one, creating an outstanding all-weather sports destination for the town.Helped by the Kilwinning Locality Partnership, academy chiefs are also in the final stages of a community asset transfer with the council which – once complete – will see them own the Blacklands facility.Academy chairperson Mick Bair said: “Our aim is to make accessible sports facilities that the people of Kilwinning and the Blacklands community.
