Kilmarnock bus station recently had new seats installed – and it hasn't gone down well.The Ayrshire transport hub is currently undergoing a radical transformation to spruce it up.Alien-looking benches have appeared at the station recently and the new furniture has left some commuters scratching their heads.Gone are the traditional flat-backed seats and in their place are a series of metal bars that scarcely resemble a bench at first glance.The new seats have sparked fears that the elderly or disabled may have nowhere to sit at the station while waiting for a bus.But East Ayrshire transport bosses confirmed the new seats are not temporary, are here to stay and that they were designed to create more space for people, especially vulnerable.
