Kilmarnock bus crash cops charge man after double decker smashed into bridge

A man has been charged after a double-decker bus crashed into a bridge in Kilmarnock.Emergency services raced to the horror incident on the East Ayrshire town's Culzean Crescent at 1.55pm on Thursday.

Paramedics attended and eight people, including several school pupils, were found injured.They were taken to University Hospital Crosshouse for treatment.

There were no reports of any serious injuries.Police have confirmed a 34-year-old man has since been charged in connection with a road traffic offence.

A report is due to be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.Meanwhile, images from the scene show the roof of the bus completely ripped away from the vehicle following the smash last week.
