Kieran Trippier could end up serving his ten-week ban - while still playing in Spain. Football Association bosses asked for the dates of Trippier’s ban for a breach of gambling regulations to be moved while FIFA considers Atletico Madrid’s appeal.
Trippier, 30, was banned for ten weeks - up to February 28 which meant missing 13 games - after an independent commission found him guilty of breaking strict gambling rules after a string of bets were placed on his 2019 move from Tottenham to Atletico.
But this remarkable loophole comes after Atletico appealed about the worldwide aspect of the ban and FIFA also ruled that Trippier can continue playing in La Liga with no time frame set on the appeal.
