Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney said "f***ing hell" when he learned about Martin Odegaard's £4million per season wages. The Norwegian wonderkid joined the Gunners on a permanent basis last season in a £30m deal from Real Madrid.
His big money move was inspired by his impressive loan spell in the season previously, which saw him establish himself as one of Mikel Arteta's most important players.
And his manager's faith has been further cemented with the awarding of the Gunners’ captaincy, vacated by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang last season.
