Both internally and externally, few are heading into the play-offs expecting Wigan Warriors to make much of a dent. But if doubters watched as they toppled Catalans Dragons on Friday, they will have at least left with something to ponder.
Wigan saved their best performance in months, and potentially their best all season, until the last regular game of the season, against the league leaders no less.
Their defence was, again, exceptional and crucially, they were innovative with the ball. Not only did they score twice, but they created further gilt-edge chances that, on other days, would have resulted in more points.
