Kathryn Kates has tragically died at the age of 73 following a battle with cancer.The veteran actress's death was confirmed by her reps at Headline Talent Agency.
In a statement they shared that the star had died on Saturday in Florida.The post read: “Kathryn has been our client for many years, and we have grown much closer to her in this last year since she knew of her cancer returning.“She was always incredibly brave and wise and approached every role with the greatest of passion.
She will be greatly missed.”Kate started her career in a few small roles in the 1980's before starring on hit programmes such as Seinfeld, Thunder Alley and Matlock.
The native New Yorker later appeared in Lizzie McGuire, Caroline in the City, Judging Amy, Rescue Me and many more throughout the 90's and 21st century.Later on in her career, she starred on popular series Orange Is the New Black and played the mother of Piper Chapman's ex-fiancé Amy Kanter-Bloom.Kathryn has no doubt been a hit in the acting world as she also featured in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as well as Jennifer Lopez's drama Shades of Blue as judge Marlene Simons.
