Katherine Jenkins has admitted that she was left ‘speechless’ after performing in the empty Royal Albert Hall for VE Day. The Welsh mezzo-soprano – whose goosebump-inducing rendition of wartime favourites including a virtual duet with Dame Vera Lynn – will be streamed on YouTube on Friday evening, described it as ‘one of the most incredible experiences of my career’.

The singer, 39, is the first person to ever perform at the iconic venue behind closed doors in its 150-year history.
