Derek became the UK's longest hospital in-patient after contracting coronavirus in March 2020.Derek was released from hospital earlier this month after spending a year in an intensive care unit, with part of his treatment seeing him placed in a coma.While recuperating at the family home in London, Kate has since said that her husband, a former lobbyist, requires "so much equipment" and constant medical care that it is similar to being at the hospital.Despite this, he has since made "miraculous" steps in recent weeks and is looking towards the future.Kate, also 53, has revealed.
