Kate and William have heard firsthand how a text helpline they set up helped a young boy who was contemplating taking his own life.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were clearly moved as they heard how the 12-year-old contacted Shout 85258 – developed by the couple’s Royal Foundation – during his crisis and a volunteer supported him before the boy rang the police for help.

The boy’s parents, who weren’t identified, spoke directly to William and Kate during a video call. They said their son was doing much better now and was even looking forward to returning to school.
