Jon Jones has vacated the UFC light-heavyweight title on the same day that Daniel Cormier called time on his career. The 33-year-old confirmed on Twitter that, after discussions with the hierarchy, his belt was now up for grabs.
Jones last fought back in February when he beat Dominick Reyes in the fifth round to record his 26th win. He had publicly aired his frustrations earlier this year when he claimed he deserved a greater slice of the financial revenue.
UFC president Dana White refused to budge but it looks as if progress has been made between the two parties and Jones could now move up to heavyweight.
