There are sequin ruched midis in going-out silver; scarlet draped jersey dresses that cling to the body in all the right places; hot pink silky skirts, zebra-print heels and a lovely linen maxi skirt in dusky gold.This is all Sykes, who joined the company in 2019 after working at major luxury brands in Italy including Giorgio Armani and Alberta Ferretti.
As well as her shrewd design eye, she brought high-end contacts and Jigsaw now buys from the same cashmere suppliers as Chanel and Prada, and the same yarn manufacturer as Zegna.
And it shows.Over Zoom, Sykes describes the last three years as “bloody hard work” - but while it may have been exhausting to turn around a 50-year-old ship, it has clearly paid off.
