Jeremy Corbyn’s suspension from the Parliamentary Labour Party breached a “settled agreement” to restore the party whip to the former leader, his lawyers told the High Court yesterday.
Mr Corbyn, who was suspended in October for claiming the scale of anti-Semitism in the party was “dramatically overstated for political reasons”, is considering legal action to have the whip restored.
He was reinstated as a party member by the National Executive Committee three weeks after his suspension. But his leadership successor Keir Starmer blocked him from sitting as a Labour MP.
The Islington North MP was suspended from Labour in October for claiming that the scale of anti-Semitism in the party was "dramatically overstated for political reasons".
