Jeff Bezos' yacht stranded after locals threaten to throw rotten eggs over bridge row

Jeff Bezos is set to remain stranded after the firm building it refused to dismantle a bridge to allow the Amazon founder to move his hulking vessel to the open water.

Bezos had offered to foot the bill for the middle section of the decommissioned Koningshavenbrug in the Dutch city of Rotterdam to be removed.

That would have allowed his monster 412ft sailing yacht to reach the North Sea from its shipyard. Locals reportedly threatened to egg the superyacht if plans to remove the bridge were followed through. History groups in Rotterdam opposed the works with thousands signing a petition promising to launch rotten eggs at Bezos' yacht if it travelled through the city towards the ocean.
