Jamie Oliver had to abandon filming of his Christmas special in July – when a freak hail storm hit. The TV chef and his crew were forced to run for cover as the weather suddenly turned, despite temperatures topping 32C on the hottest day of the year.

A baffled Jamie shared clips of the wind, rain and huge hailstones from their filming location with his 8.6 million Instagram followers.

Speaking to the camera, the 46-year-old braced himself from the weather conditions as he said: “So guys. We’re filming the Christmas special. “It’s currently been the hottest day of the year – then this comes in. “Like the biggest hail, the biggest wind – the craziest weather.
