Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.
He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,
Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.
Jamie Carragher believes Brendan Rodgers would be the ideal candidate to return to Liverpool and replace Jurgen Klopp when he departs Anfield.Klopp has taken the Reds to dizzy heights since replacing Rodgers on Merseyside back in 2015, winning their first ever Premier League title as well as the Champions League.His predecessor came mightily close to ending their lengthy wait for a league crown, with Steven Gerrard's slip against Chelsea costing them dearly at the business end of the 2013/14 campaign.Since being sacked by Liverpool Rodgers has enjoyed success with Celtic and Leicester, guiding the latter to FA Cup glory last season.And while he doesn't expect it to happen, Carragher says he would love to see the Northern Irishman replace.
