Jack Harlow has opened up about his “dream” collaboration

Patrick Frater Asia Bureau Chief Veteran film, theater and opera director Julie Taymor has been set as the president of the competition jury at next month’s Tokyo International Film Festival. Taymor (“The Lion King”) will head a small group that selects the winners from the 15 competition titles that unspool in Tokyo between Oct. 24 and Nov. 2, 2022. The other four members of the jury will be announced later. Taymor is the second woman to head the jury in as many years and follows Isabelle Huppert in 2021. There was no competition in 2020 due to COVID. And in 2019, the jury was headed by China’s Zhang Ziyi.

BreAnna Bell Tracee Ellis Ross is busier than ever despite closing the chapter on “Black-ish.” The actor, producer, entrepreneur and CEO’s focus has turned toward a list of projects including the Hulu/ OWN/ Onyx Collective docuseries “Hair Tales” (which she’s producing through her production company Joy Mill Entertainment), voicing the lead character in MTV’s animated Daria-spinoff movie “Jodie” and launching the podcast “I Am America.” In addition, she’s celebrating the three-year anniversary of her hair care company Pattern Beauty. During her keynote conversation at Variety’s Entertainment and Technology Summit presented by City National Bank, Ross explained how she keeps all these different pursuits in “harmony.”

2022 MTV Video Music Awards are this weekend and the list of performers is hard to top!On Thursday, it was announced that Snoop Dogg and Eminem will be performing a live rendition of their latest collaboration — their first in more than 20 years -- «From the D 2 the LBC.» Inspired by the world of the Otherside metaverse, MTV is partnering with Yuga Labs to bring the creative experience to life. The moment will mark the first VMAs performance for either artist in more than a decade. Eminem last hit the stage to deliver “Not Afraid” and “Love the Way You Lie” in 2010, while Snoop rocked the mic in a 2005 tribute to the Notorious B.I.G.

Nicki Minaj, LL Cool J and Jack Harlow will team up to share emcee duties, it was announced on Thursday. In a press release for the event, the trio of hip-hop superstars are said to be taking a «more innovative and unique approach» to traditional hosting.The show will air live from New Jersey's Prudential Center on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 8 p.m.

Reading & Leeds Festival organisers have said that Måneskin and Jack Harlow pulled out of this year’s festival to play an awards ceremony.This year’s R+L falls on the same weekend that both acts will be performing at the MTV Video Music Awards.Harlow had been due to perform alongside Arctic Monkeys on Leeds Festival’s final day with Måneskin appearing before Rage Against The Machine on Reading’s closing (August 28) – the same day as this year’s VMAs in Newark, New Jersey.Måneskin, however, announced earlier this month that they were pulling out of this year’s Reading & Leeds due to “scheduling conflicts”.In a statement issued at the time on social media, the band wrote: “We are sad to announce that unfortunately due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts, we are no longer able to perform at Readings & Leeds festival this year.
