ITV viewers switch off new show The Games after just five minutes into broadcast
dailystar.co.ukITV has been gearing up to release their new sports challenge programme, which was aired for the first time on 9 May, but the show received complaints from some of its viewers.Presented by ITV icon Holly Willoughby and former cricketer Freddie Flintoff, the show sees celebrities compete against each other at a series of sporting tasks in an attempt to win points.Inspired by the Olympic games, the show is a reboot of a Channel 4 show with the same premise.It was set up to be ITV’s next prime time money maker, but some fans thought otherwise.The programme’s competitors include Strictly professional Kevin Clifton, Paddy McGuinness’ wife Christine, Love Island and TOWIE star Olivia Atwood and Spice Girl Mel B’s daughter Phoenix, among others.The show’s first event saw singer-songwriter Chelcee Grimes win at the women’s 100m race event.Chelcee, who has written songs for the likes of Kylie Minogue, Dua Lipa and The Saturdays, won by a close call with Phoenix, who was neck and neck.Grimes admitted that she knew Phoenix would be one to keep an eye on when she gave her winning speech, but some fans seemed distracted.Audiences took to Twitter to share their frustrations in the The Games hashtag and it appeared their thoughts were unanimous.One follower sarcastically tweeted: “Put The Games on, haven’t a clue who anybody is, turns off.
That should be a challenge - see how fast you can change the channel over.”Another wrote: “Watching The Games and wondering: ‘What is the point in all this?’ Don’t recognise half these ‘celebrities’.”A disgruntled viewer called out the channel for making “celebrities do P.E.
