ITV has been slapped with Ofcom complaints after viewers were horrified by the gory content in serial killer drama Des. The dark three-part drama followed the 1983 arrest of Scottish serial killer Dennis Nilsen, played by David Tennant, who murdered at least 12 young men and boys in London.

The show depicted reenactments of Des nonchalantly confessing to the murders of at least 12 men and teen boys over a five year period.

He described boiling their heads, dismembering them and engaging in necrophilia, much to the dismay of some viewers. The scenes prompted at least seven horrified viewers to complaint to telly regulator Ofcom, while others bemoaned the chain-smoking scenes, the Sun reports.
