iPhone has come under fire as a 'stalking' tool. The Apple Airtag, which is a small coin-sized device, is designed to be attached to luggage or keys and allow you to track important items up to 0.1ft away. However, this seemingly-innocent device is receiving heavy criticism after spates of women have reported discovering an Airtag hidden in their belongingss by strangers.Six women told the BBC that they had been tracked with Apple Airtags, including one who said she thinks the device was hidden somewhere on her car and used to find her home address.

What's worse, many of the victims only discover the tracking device after their iPhone sends them a notification warning them of the unwanted accessory.

However, this is only sent between 8 and 24 hours after a device has been detected moving with an unregistered phone. Apple told the Daily Star that the company takes safety "very seriously" and that it is "committed to AirTag's privacy and security."A spokesperson said: “AirTag is designed with a set of proactive features to discourage unwanted tracking — a first in the industry — that both inform users if an unknown AirTag might be with them, and deter bad actors from using an AirTag for nefarious purposes.“If users ever feel their safety is at risk, they are encouraged to contact local law enforcement who can work with Apple to provide any available information about the unknown AirTag.”It's not the first time that Airtags have come under fire for invading people's privacy.Earlier this month, top swimsuit model Brooks Nader warned people on social media about the Airtags. She said someone had slipped one into her coat and had let the owner see her location.
