The opening ceremony for the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games happened early this morning and you can check out so many great photos right here!

The event took place in the local evening hours of Friday (July 23) at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo, Japan. Representatives of the Olympic teams from around the world appeared during the opening ceremony and world leaders were in the nearly empty crowd to cheer on their countries.

The United States’ First Lady Jill Biden was at the event to cheer on Team USA! Tennis player Naomi Osaka, who is on Team Japan, had the honor of lighting the Olympic flame at the end of the relay.
