Inquest opens into tragic death of 14-year-old Adam Kay whose body was found in River Irwell

Adam Kay's body was found in the River Irwell in Clifton Country Park last Tuesday, June 2, following a large search and rescue operation.

The youngster, who lived in Clifton Street, Kearsley, and was a student at Harper Green School, Farnworth, had been out playing with his friends when he got he got into difficulty in the water.An inquest into his death was opened at Bolton Coroners' Court today (Thursday) by assistant coroner Catherine Cundy.She took a statement from police coroners officer, Stefan Wilson, who summed up what had happened at the park on that tragic afternoon.He said: "Adam went swimming with his friends at Clifton Country Park on Tuesday, June 2."Whilst there he jumped from a rock and didn't resurface.
