Wigan Warriors are closing in on the signing of former centre Iain Thornley. Rugby League Live understands the Warriors have held extensive talks with the 29-year-old, who will leave Leigh Centurions at the end of the season despite the Super League club being keen to return the powerful centre.

Though Thornley has had interest from other clubs as well as his current club, it's a move back to the DW Stadium that is now looking extremely likely to take place, six years since leaving the club.

He spent four seasons in the Warriors first team, scoring an impressive 30 tries in 45 appearances for the club. He subsequently joined Hull Kingston Rovers and a year later joined Catalans Dragons after the Robins were relegated.
