sex shop.Tanya runs ‘Intimate Torment’, an adult merchandise store in Swindon. The shop sells sex toys, lingerie and offers advice for people looking to embrace their less conventional desires. But before taking the reigns at her shop, Tanya had been working a traditional 9-to-5 job until one day she was diagnosed with having suffered from multiple strokes. Now, speaking on the Jeremy Vine Show on BBC Radio 2, Tanya explained how she had taken the dramatic career change after suffering serious health set-backs.And surprisingly, Tanya revealed that she wasn’t aware that she had suffered from a series of strokes at first, before eventually being diagnosed at the age of 42.“I was working for a stationary company, that I had been for nearly ten years, and I just had this terrible headache,” she began.“I came home, and went to bed, woke up and I was paralysed down my right side, my face had gone.“Later that day it was diagnosed that I’d had a stroke, and later on from that they actually said it was the ninth one that I’d had.”So, having been written off working full time in her old job, Tanya described how she had been struggling with simply sitting around when a friend who sold adult merchandise at markets offered for her to help him out. Then, when her friend eventually quit work, Tanya remembered that she had decided it was time to open a sex shop herself, and hasn’t looked back since.“Some people are very obviously quite nervous when they come in, as you can imagine, they’re not quite sure what to expect," she said.“So we talk people through and say, ‘everybody is completely normal no matter what you do’."On one occasion, Tanya recalled the moment a 62-year-old lady who had entered the shop after not having had a date for 12.
