A mum has revealed how her "glamorous" job led to an eight-bottle-a-day wine habit, starting with her first drink at 5am. Sarah Day, 46, first tried wine at 15 and would go on three nights out a week with friends.
But after turning 21, her roles as a personal trainer and PA involved regular "liquid lunches" that quickly spiralled into addiction.
Before long, Sarah needed to open a bottle of wine at 5am to face the day, and by 2013, she'd spent £30k on rehab and been hospitalised multiple times for detox.
At 35, she was referred to Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), a free service. But she struggled to attend meetings until a particularly gruelling detox in 2019 made her commit to recovery.
