Glynis Winstanley had struggled with her weight for as long as she could remember – spending year stuck in a vicious cycle of losing and gaining.
Despite her dieting efforts, the weight always came back, leading to health issues and a serious loss of confidence. That was until August 2022 when Glynis had a moment of clarity while on holiday in Mauritius that would go on to change her life.
The gran-of-four caught a glimpse of herself in the hotel window and didn’t recognise the person staring back at her. It was in that moment that Glynis decided to turn things around for good, going on to join her local Slimming World group in October 2022.
Incredibly, the programme went on to help her lose a whopping 7st 3.5lbs - a transformation that transformed her life physically and mentally. “I was on holiday, I had a dress on and was going to a restaurant,” the 68-year-old told the Manchester Evening News. “I thought, "Oh my God, is that really me?” “That was the point when I realised I had to do something, but it had to be different. “I wanted that 'something' to be a sustainable way of losing weight that I could do for the rest of my life, not a quick fix.” At her first weigh-in, Glynis, who works at Iceland in Timperley, weighed in at just over 18 stone and could only fit into size 26 clothing.
