Between March and July 2020, during the UK’s first national lockdown, an estimated 9.7million* people missed out on attending a funeral because of the pandemic.
This has had a dramatic impact of those trying to grieve the loss of a loved one. In order to help people struggling with grief during a time when bereavement groups are restricted due to social distancing, Co-op is trialling online groups, run by its own members who have been personally affected by the matter.
The small 60-minute gatherings - known as 'bereavement story groups' - give people a chance to speak about somebody they've lost in a safe and comforting environment.
