A 'massive' fire has broken out at a boatyard with explosions heard by nearby residents. The blaze has reportedly engulfed two boatyards on Platt's Eyot, an island on the River Thames in Hampton, Richmond upon Thames.
Neighbours said they had heard 'large explosions' as the flames spread across the scene earlier today. London Fire Brigade said around 100 firefighters and 15 fire engines are at the scene battling the blaze, which has engulfed two industrial units.
One witness wrote on Twitter: "Police/fire moving people back. Lots of bangs and pops. "The fire is a long way from the road, surrounded by river.
