Howard Schnellenberger was a well-known football coach for teams including the University of Miami Hurricanes and the Miami Dolphins.After playing college football for the Kentucky Wildcats, Schnellenberger had a brief professional playing career in the CFL before turning to coaching.
In his early coaching career, he was an assistant to Alabama’s legendary coach Bear Bryant (1913–1983) and recruited the great Joe Namath to the team.
Later, as head coach at Miami, Schnellenberger took a struggling team that was on the verge of being dropped by the university and made them into national champions.
