However, this time of year also means supermarkets go head-to-head hoping to win over shoppers. Last year, Aldi slashed the price of festive veg to just 14p, which meant bargain hunters could pick up a pack of family favourites including carrots, potatoes, parsnips, cabbage, swede and brussels sprouts for less than £1.
